Elvis - Welcome to My World
This a compilation album, slightly water damaged. I do like how the circular wear mark wraps around his head, like a halo? From 1977, just months before he died. All but one of the song on it had been previously released (with "Your Cheatin' Heart", recorded in 1957! Previously unissued recording of "I Can't Stop Loving You" was taken from a 1972 concert. Click on the title of this post for a youtube clip of The Who doing a song from The Endless Wire. It is called Real Good Looking Boy. The intro and also within that song is woven the chorus from Can't Help Falling in Love, written by George Weiss, Hugo Peretti and Luigi Creatore. That famous Elvis song is based on "Plaisir d'amour" by Jean Paul Egide Martini. It was adapted for inclusion in the 1961 film Blue Hawaii, starring Elvis Presley.

Elvis Presley: 75th Birthday Week Celebration
I was going to wait, but I have too many cool Elvis records to post just one. Born January 8, 1935, Elvis would be 75 on Friday. This photo is the back cover of a "double live" album called Elvis in Concert. Front cover says, "Original soundtrack recording from the CBS-TV special plus additional songs recorded on tour in June, 1977." The back cover has this note, "Album Creative Director: Col. Tom Parker." This week I read Chicago Tribune rock critic Greg Kot saying Elvis singing Mystery Train, with Scotty Moore on guitar, is one of the most important songs in rock history. Elvis sure picked good songs to sing. On this record, he does songs written by, Don McLean, Ray Charles, the Pointer Sisters, Gordon Lightfoot, Chuck Berry, Leiber-Stoller (3), Paul Anka, Arthur Crudup, and Marty Robbins. Click post title for link to You Gave Me A Mountain, live in Hawaii 1973.
