Noted Jazz Record Collector - my pal Chuck
Our good pal Chuck Sweningsen came over this weekend to take a look through my record collection. Chuck is a member of the Internation Association of Jazz Record Collectors. Chuck was chair this past summer of their annual convention, in Bloominigton, MN. Over 100 collectors and 25 vendors attended. One of the stated purposes of the IAJRA is "To maintain an Association of collectors of jazz recordings of all eras and styles, whether the collectible medium be recordings, tapes or films, and to encourage and promote both collecting and research in the related fields of artist, label and discography/filmography." Chuck came over to see my records, and since jazz is not my main genre - I told Chuck he was welcome to take any jazz records he wanted. He selected a semi-rare Teddy Wilson record (see photo) and also a Glenn Miller live album, recorded at Carnegie Hall. I am glad to know these jazz records will have a good home.
