Smokey Robinson and The Miracles; 1957 - 1972, with great wear rings...

This is another DLA - Smokey Robinson and The Miracles; 1957 - 1972.   I am just finishing a great book ostensibly about Motown, but it's really about Berry Gordy, Jr.  They are practically one in the same.  Toward the end of this label's great arc, after the movies, the west coast migration from Detroit, and other struggles - now it's about all the artist defections and tons of lawsuits over rights and royalties.  The most loyal soldier of them all (and Motown acts and artists were legion) is and was Smoke, as BG called him.  Marvin had too many issues to list, the J5 bolted to CBS/Epic, Diana Ross - too much drama.  The 4 Tops left, The Tempts just wanted some acknowledgement, (read: money), and Stevie Wonder laid a bomb with his disaster follow-up to Songs in the Key of Life: Journey Through "The Secret Life of Plants" - It was pretty much falling apart.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNS6D4hSQdA
