Chase - Who were they?

Chase was an American Fusion band, formed in 1970 by Bill Chase.  Bill Chase and other band members died in a plane crash on 9th August, 1974. Their death brought the band to an abrupt end.  This is one, 2-lp record album.  Apparently. it is a re--issue, melding their first and second lp's into one album.  Their first album is eponymous and their second is called Ennea.  From perhaps 1973 or 4, this record is called Chase.  Playing on it are: band-leader and founder Bill Chase - trumpet, Ted Piercefield - trumpet, Alan Ware - trumpet, Jerry Van Blair - trumpet, Phil Porter - organ, Angel South - guitar, Dennis Johnson - bass, Gary Smith - drums,   Jay Burrid - drums; track 2 & 6, and G. G. Shinn - vocals.   From what I have read, Trumpet player Bill Chase brought a new sense of direction to the trumpet world when he first came onto the music scene (in the late sixties).   His fearless lead work with the great Woody Herman Thundering Herds of the 1960's influenced many of today's trumpet players and musicians alike.  His later formation of the group CHASE took the trumpet to newer heights. Bill and several members of his band were killed in an unfortunate accident in August of 1974, but his legacy still lives on.
