Funky Friday: The Brothers Johnson

The Brothers Johnson might hold the record for having the most posts about them here.  Not sure what it is about them - but I think they are cool. And their record covers are all very cool.  This is their record Blam! is the third album by the Los AngelesCalifornia-based duo Brothers Johnson. Released in 1978, the album topped the Billboard R&B albums chart and reached number seven on the pop albums chart.   This one like most of their other records was produced by the great Quincy Jones.  Lots of greats helped out and played on this record - such as Larry Carlton, Steve Khan - Guitar, Richard Tee - Electric Piano, Acoustic Piano.  Steve Porcaro - Synthesizer.  And speaking of brothers - Michael Brecker - Tenor Saxophone.

  1. Great tune (Strawberry Letter 23), which was written by Shuggie Otis. He's the son of Johnny Otis, who was a Sebastopol CA mainstay for year and years.

Here's a profile of the famous father! http://www.johnnyotisworld.com/biography.html
