The Pat Metheny Group. One of the first records the cooler, older guys who I worked with at the pool mentioned Pat Metheny and told me about this records. I owned (but later lost in college) his record called New Chautauqua, which I think was his first solo album. The title track is great. But I must say - I have been playing this record quite a bit lately. Based mainly on the cut called Phase Dance. It is..."Pat Metheny Group is the first album by Pat Metheny Group, released in 1978. Lyle Mays (born November 27, 1953) is an American jazz pianist and composer from Wausaukee, Wisconsin. He is best known for his work with guitarist Pat Metheny as a member of the Pat Metheny Group. Along with Metheny, Mays has been a co-composer and arranger of almost all of the group's music and has won eleven Grammy Awards. Danny Gottlieb (born April 18, 1953) is a freelance drummer who has performed as part of the Pat Metheny Group and Mahavishnu Orchestra. He is also a member of the University of North Florida jazz faculty, where he teaches as a full-time Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies. Mark Egan (Born 1951 in Brockton, Massachusetts) is an American jazz bass guitarist and trumpeter, arguably best known for his membership in the Pat Metheny Group from 1977 to 1980, and the Gil Evans Orchestra. He is co-founder of the jazz fusion band,Elements. Egan has maintained a solo career, with three platinum and three gold albums to his credit, and has served as bandleader of his own ensembles to positive reviews.
