The Doobies - Vices Now Habits

OK, I have tons of old records, many bought at garage sales and some in this condition (water damage).  When you buy a box for records for five dollars, you get some like this.  But guess what - it plays great!  I heard a cut on this album on the radio driving back from Indiana.  The theme was rock songs from the year 1974.  And Eyes of Silver led off.  Do you remember it?  I just played it from this record.  This album was well known for Black Water.  But you may also recall the gorgeous and melodic Another Park Another Sunday.  Apologies to Michael McDonald, to me Tom Johnston has thee voice of the Doobs.  There are no clips of Eyes of Silver on youtube, sorry.  What a great American band - Skunk Baxter, Pat Simmons.  I peeked at wiki to find out Arlo Guthrie played on this record.  Ted Templeman producer.  A few summers ago I met the band at a Chicago White Sox game.  They sang a short 3-song set and then the National Anthem, and then they sat in seats near ours.  I had them sign my game ticket.

  1. Saw them at Saratoga Performing Arts Center (NY) in my youth, with Michael McDonald and Cornelius Bumpus on sax and Hammond. And at a Natural Foods tradeshow in Anaheim, and again at Concord Pavilion (SF) with backstage passes thanks to a friend whose kids and Tom Johnston's schooled together. Tom was very cordial backstage, but the others opted out of meeting the guests (they would bave NONE of it!)

  2. AND, as you probably know, Jeff "Skunk" Baxter and Michael McDonald collaborated with Steely Dan at one time.
