Experience Hendrix - concert review

This is the single-record album called Jimi Hendrix Rainbow Bridge, Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.  It is on the Reprise label, made in the UK.  Billy Cox plays bass on all but two songs on it.  I just saw Billy Cox play at the Experience Hendrix concert this past week at the Chicago Theater.   Chicagoan Buddy Miles drums on it too.  The EH concert was awesome.  I've never see such a diverse gathering of musicians gather to play music.  Billy Cox played with Ernie Isley - they each told stories of playing with and knowing Jimi.  Ideal guy for the role, Chris "Whipper" Layton (ex-SRV and Double Trouble) manned the drum kit for entire 3-hour show.  Living Colour (Vernon Reid!) mashed up with Susan Tedeschi.  And so many other groupings and combinations of players.  Eric Johnson did three Hendrix songs.  Kenny Wayne Shepherd playing Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) had me recalling seeing SRV play it 25 years earlier at the Aragon Brawlroom.  Brad Whitford (Areosmith!), plus Jonny Lang, and lastly Joe Satriani.  One of the last living connections to Chess Records, Hubert Sumlin played with Susan and Brad.  What a thrill.  The night was an outpouring and heartfelt homage to Jimi.  During Red House, a 14-year old blues prodigy from Chicago was introduced.   Will get that boy's name up here soon.
