Willie Nelson - Our National Treasure

The one on the right is the back cover of Stardust.  The first time I heard Live was at my college pal Jack's house in Mt. Greenwood - at the 8th grade graduation party for his brother Phil.  Hearing Whisky River changed everting for me.  Last night we watched Larry King interview Willie Nelson.  Humble, witty, direct, and self-effacing - it was fascinating to hear Willie answer so many different types of questions.  When asked, Willie desribed himself as a guitar player who can sing and write songs - in that order; not the other way around.  He also said that any good song-writer should be able to write a song "on the spot."  Willie explained he could, but could not predict how good it'd be.  Willie covered topics like, songs, traveling, who he listens to (like Vern Gosdin: click on post title), his Willie biofuel, politics, and drug usage.  I've attended funerals the last two weekends.  The music selections always interest me.  Anything from Stardust would work.  Willie and Family Live is now in my Top Five Double-live Albums list.
