The Babys - On the Edge

The Baby's - On the Edge.  The Babys do a song that I play all the time when people come over - but it's not on this record.  I only bought this record to round out my The Babys collection.  I have 3 or 4 from them.  That's about all they did and all I need.  The song is called Isn't it Time.  I love the horns on that song that brighten it up.  And the 3-girl backup singers.  They even have a name - the Babettes.  Here is more on this great song from available Internet sources, "From 1977, it was released on their album titled Broken Heart.  The song was NOT (emphasis added by blogger) written by any member of the group  - but actually by a bass guitarist named Jack Conrad,  along with Ray Kennedy and it starts a distinctive piano introduction by Michael Corby which then moves into an opening vocal performance by lead singer John Waite.  And here is a nugget on Ray Kennedy - "Raymond (Ray) Louis Kennedy (born in Phila.) is a singer, songwriter, musician and record producer based in LA.  His works span multiple genres including R&B, pop, rock, jazz, fusion, acid rock, country and many others.  Acid rock.  Really.  He is particularly notable as being the co-writer of one of the Beach Boys' major hits of their mid-career, Sail On, Sailor, plus Waite's hit called Everytime I Think of You."
