Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush: Tales of the Unexpected

Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush.  What?!  Some other form of a Rush?  A Mahogany Rush?  Is that a rush one might get from mahogany?  With Rush came first?  Both are from Canada?  Apparently this rush - the Mahogany type is a Canadian rock band led by guitarist Frank Marino. The band had its peak of popularity in the 1970s, playing such venues as California Jam II together with bands such as AerosmithTed Nugent and Heart.  The band is perhaps best known for Marino's soaring lead guitar which bears a strong resemblance to the playing of Jimi Hendrix.  (According to who?).  Members have included bassist Paul Harwood, drummer Jimmy Ayoub, and guitarist Vince Marino (Frank's brother); the band has continued with other members, always under Frank Marino's leadership. After 1980, the group toured as Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, and after Jim Ayoub left the group, it simply became Frank Marino.  After a long absence, the band toured the United States in October 2006.
