Supertramp: Crisis? What Crisis? Back cover...

Supertramp's Crisis? What Crisis?  This is the back cover.  I finished the autobiography of Ken Scott -  the great rock and roll recording engineer and later record producer.  Crisis? What Crisis? is the fourth album by progressive rock band Supertramp, released in 1975. It was recorded in Los Angeles and London – Supertramp's first album to have recording done in the United States of America.  Record Mirror included Crisis? What Crisis? on its end-of-year list for 1975, recognizing the best albums of the year.  In the book  noted above - we read that...having achieved commercial success with Crime of the Century, the pressure was on for Supertramp to deliver a strong follow-up, and the record company (A&M) pushed them to begin work as soon as the touring for "Crime" was finished.  While touring the west coast of North America, Supertramp unintentionally gained extra time: Hodgson injured his hand, forcing the band to cancel the rest of the tour and leaving them with nothing better to do than work on the album.  Despite this, the band still didn't have time to rehearse for the album, and much like Indelibly Stamped, songwriters Rick Davies and Roger Hodgson had no vision for a completed album worked out.  Side note - most of the Supertramp song clips on youtube - have names like this "Roger Hodgson, Writer and Composer," indicating some type of squabble among band members over who wrote what parts of their songs.

  1. Maybe their album did have a concept...with the sunbathing pic perhaps it was, "To hell with the ozone hole you'll hear about in 20 years!"
