Lou Rawls: Natural Man

This was one of the albums from a stack that was given to me by a neighbor.  Very cool.  And what a voice - smooth, lush, and deep.   Sadly, he passed away in 2006.   Lou released over 60 records, and I have 3 or 4.  This one is Natural Man.  Born in Chicago, he grew up in the Ida B. Wells Projects.  [Ida B. Wells (1862 – 1931) was an African-American journalist, newspaper editor, suffragist, and - with her husband, newspaper owner Ferdinand L. Barnett - an early leader in the civil rights movement.  She was active in the women's rights and the women's suffrage movements, establishing several notable women's organizations.  Wells was a skilled persuasive rhetorician, and traveled internationally on lecture tours.]   Now back to Lou Rawls.  The title track from this LP "A Natural Man" - released in 1971, made it up to #17 on the charts.
